With Yogi Bear out in theaters today, it's time to look forward to the next CGI/live-action hybrid adaptation of something from your childhood that you never asked for: The Smurfs. The upcoming movie boasts a little more starpower than Yogi Bear, with Neil Patrick Harris, Tim Gunn and Sofia Vergara showing up in human roles and Hank Azaria as the villainous Gargamel, but come on… it's still the Smurfs movie you're going to be making fun of next summer.

And just in case Yogi Bear was distracting you from the imminent Smurfs apocalypse, there's a new poster for the movie now at IMP Awards. There's the goofy tagline you expect, the New York City skyline to let you know what's happening… and that's pretty much it. No need for cleverness or originality here, so we're just moving on. As a New Yorker I see it necessary to point out that, based on the angle at which the three Smurfs are eyeing the Empire State Building, the only real-life skyscraper they could be standing on top of is the 30 Rockefeller building.. home of NBC and GE, rivals to the mega-corporation Sony that's putting out The Smurfs. Awwwwwkward.

The Smurfs hits theaters next summer on August 3. For everything else we now about the movie so far, check out its page in our Blend Film Database.
