Snow White And The Huntsman Will Find Its Way Onto Blu-ray In September
The summer blockbuster, Snow White and The Huntsman, is getting a pretty quick turnaround with its September 11 Blu-ray and DVD release. Due to the scandal following actress Kristin Stewart and her affair with director Rupert Sanders, the success of the film has been swept under the rug a little bit. However, Snow White and the Huntsman actually pulled in over $400 million worldwide, and Universal Studios Home Entertainment is giving the release enough special features to befit a lucrative film.
Snow White and the Huntsman follows Kristen Stewart as our heroine and the good-looking Chris Hemsworth as yet another action hero in an epic adventure tale about restoring a kingdom to its rightful rule. Charlize Theron also features prominently as an evil queen who pulls a note from Disney’s Hocus Pocus and sucks the essence out of her victims to maintain her youth. If it seems like there is a lot going on in the film, there is, but Theron--especially--is fun to watch, and I wish the disc would have devoted a featurette to her performance.
Unfortunately, we won’t get my wish, but buyers of both the DVD or Blu-ray will get feature commentary from Sanders, as well as visual effects supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and co-editor Neil Smith. Additionally, a new featurette called “A Legend is Born” will come with both sets. Universal really seems to be pushing for audiences to nab the Blu-ray this time around, and fans willing to shell out a few extra dollars will get a far more comprehensive set.
