New Snow White And The Huntsman Videos Give Us A Look At Costumes, Characters And The Kingdom
While the Tarsem Singh directed Mirror Mirror hits theaters in a matter of weeks, Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman won’t release into theaters until June 1. We’ve seen some bits and pieces of the movie in the various sneak peeks that have been released, and now there are three more videos, which give us a better look at the story, the characters and the costumes.
The Hollywood Reporter shared the videos below, each of which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the film, which will have Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth playing the title characters, and Charlize Theron set to play the evil queen Ravenna. In addition to giving us a few new looks at the movie, the videos offer some insight into the development of the story, so consider yourselves moderately spoiler warned as you watch the videos ahead.
This first one looks behind the scenes of the film and discusses the story and characters. Among the more interesting tidbits is the reveal that we’ll be getting to see the kingdom in its before and after stages, with regards to Ravenna’s reign. That is, as stated, “the kingdom in its Camelot stage of richness, and the kingdom in its disintegration...”
“The queen really symbolizes death and Snow White is the beating heart of life...” Rupert Sanders says of the two characters. Speaking of Snow White and Ravenna, this video looks more closely at Charleze Theron’s character, but also includes some footage of Kristen Stewart as Snow White, in action.
Finally, this last video focuses on Colleen Atwood’s work on the costumes. Apparently, she made over a thousand costumes for this film. Some of them were metal. Some were suede. And one or two may actually be include feathers or buffalo leather.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen some new footage of Snow White and the Huntsman, but these videos more than make up for it. I thought the film looked good in the trailer, but these videos give us a better idea of the story and character history beyond the hunt for Snow White, with talk of her leading an Army, and the death-like metaphor related to Ravenna.
Snow White and the Huntsman arrives in theaters on June 1. More information, photos and videos can be found in our Blend Film Database.
