Star Wars: Episode VII Teases Its Arrival At D23 With... Orange Crates?
Keep your eyes on Anaheim this weekend as Disney pulls back the curtain on its biannual D23 fan event – scheduled for Aug. 9-11 in Anaheim, California. Because so many major properties now call the Mouse House home, we expect to hear major announcements pertaining to the future of Pixar, Disney traditional animation, and Star Wars … which already is making a splash courtesy of the “Orange Harvest.”
ComingSoon has the photos of crates on location in Anaheim that are teasing … something Star Wars related. As the site points out, Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi once worked under the subtitle Blue Harvest back in the day, so there’s a thematic continuation at play as J.J. Abrams fires fans up for Episode VII. Check out a few of the images CS snapped at D23:
What are we expecting to hear? Hard to say at the moment. If I had to guess, I’d say that Disney would confirm a release date for Abrams’ Episode VII, since right now we only know 2015, and no specific weekend. Again, if I had to guess, I’d say that Disney lays claim to Memorial Day weekend that summer, as past Star Wars movies have circled that date. Also, we might get a subtitle for Abrams’ upcoming movie. What will be the next Revenge of the Sith or Attack of the Clones? When I think back to the insanity Joss Whedon caused at Comic-Con simply by revealing the title Avengers: Age of Ultron … well, Abrams could send seismic shocks through the geek community from Anaheim if he tipped his cap to the direction of the franchise with a revealing subtitle.
Here’s the deal, though. If you haven’t already snagged tickets to attend D23, the official Twitter feed for the events says that Saturday is sold out. So you KNOW that the biggest announcements will arrive that day. Keep it locked onto CinemaBlend all weekend, and we’ll do our best to keep you up to date on the latest Disney announcements, particularly those tied to Star Wars, because with Episode VII on its way, you just know a few major pieces have to snap into place, and soon.
