At this rate, every single horror movie made before the 21st century is going to be remade by the end of 2010, even the ones no one cared about in the first place. This includes Stepfather, a subpar 80s horror flick that played on that untrusting feeling that we all feel or felt at one time about the random dudes our moms married after our dads (I say “our” because who are we kidding? No one’s parents are still together).
Anyway, the first trailer has been released, and I think you can probably watch this and never have to see the movie as it gives away pretty much the whole plot in its two and half minutes. The only thing it saves for the theatre is in what way the stepfather will inevitably die (not a spoiler because I’ve never seen the original) and come back to life to make room for a sequel.
