Who was once a powerful neurosurgeon and became the most powerful magician in the universe, will now become a movie star. Dr. Stephen Strange AKA Doctor Strange, will be adapted from comic book form to feature film…probably.

In an extremely ambiguous “announcement” to MTV News, magical master of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige claims that “I’d say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr. Strange on those lists. I love the idea of tapping into the magical realm of the Marvel Universe, which is fairly significant and hasn’t yet seen life on screen. It’s something I’m very, very interested in.” Wow, Magical Marvel universe sounds even more expensive than regular Marvel universe.

MTV Splash Page reports that Feige laughed at the insinuation that Doctor Strange is a second-string super hero in the ranks of the Marvel ‘verse. He says “I remember two years ago at Comic Con the cover of the ‘LA Times Calendar Section,’ read ‘Marvel calls out the B team’ and there was a picture of Iron Man. We don’t look at them as ‘B team.’ Dr. Strange? This is one of the best characters we have. [He represents] this amazing cosmic universe to Marvel that we haven’t played with in films yet and I think could be amazing to play with.” No need to get emotional, Feige. Maybe Feige is a little strange himself. After all, even if the LA Times was being supremely ignorant in calling Iron Man part of the “B team” it is safe to say that Doctor Strange is not nearly as big of a seller as Tony Stark. Although it will be awesome, making a Doctor Strange movie is definitely financially risky.

I love risky, though. With magical cohorts with names like Lord Julian Phyffe, Cardinal Alfeo Spinosa, Count Carezzi, and Wai Chee Yee, it will certainly be a Strange day in Hollywood when Stephen Strange makes it to the big screen.
