Stuart Townsend has now had two chances at becoming a fanboy icon, and has squandered both. The same actor who was fired from the role of Aragorn in Lord of the Rings is now out of Thor, according to The Associated Press. He'd been hired to play Fandral, one of Thor's allies, but now he's been replaced by Joshua Dallas, an actor known for, uh.... The Descent Part 2.

Though the official reason for Townsend bailing is "creative disputes," Ain't It Cool is reporting from a source that Townsend showed up six hours late for a screen test. Given that shooting is set to begin on Monday, you can see how that might irk a production that needs all its ducks in a row to get started. While most of us have generally had sympathy for Townsend's losing the role of Aragorn, given that he was apparently considered too young for the part, if the screen test rumor is true then he's got no one to blame but himself. Joshua Dallas, prepare yourself: you may be the next Viggo Mortensen.
