This New Supercut Of Sad Scenes Will Definitely Make You Cry
Ever since the beginning of cinematic history, tears have greased the dramatic wheels of some of the most memorable moments to ever grace the screen. So why not put all of those moments together, into one, sadness fueled montage that'll make you cry as if you'd skinned your knee? Prepare yourself, for the saddest clip reel ever:
Thanks to the good folks at Burger Fiction, this reel known as "This Supercut Will Make You Cry," does exactly that trick. All of your favorite, sorrow soaked moments are here. You want to see The Iron Giant's "Superman" moment? It opens the video. Feeling like watching the end of Marley and Me? Pony up the Kleenex, buckaroo! Is Disney your favorite purveyor of cry baby moments? There's both Disney AND Pixar moments that make this list, including a trifecta from The Fox and the Hound, Bambi, and The Lion King. All bases are covered, and your tear ducts aren't safe.
With a clip show that could make even the stoniest face leak streams of upset, there are a lot of classic moments that have proven their worth throughout the history of sad scenes. For starters, all three Disney picks still manage to get us every time we see them, so stringing all three of them together was a huge sadness bomb. But, of course, the sport of weeping is not for children alone, as scenes from films like The Green Mile, The Wrestler, and Schindler's List, all claims spots in this parade of bawling your eyes out. However, not all of the moments on this list are lucky to stand the test of time.
Unfortunately, time and the internet have rendered some of the moments in "This Supercut Will Make You Cry," rather toothless. After almost two decades of parody, letting Leonardo DiCaprio's frozen body sink to the bottom of the ocean in Titanic seems a little pale in comparison to the heavyweights in this reel. Even Marley and Me's obvious ending manages to draw more tears than James Cameron's record -setting romantic historical drama. Also, when it comes to the breakdown at the funeral in My Girl, there has been enough time and internet reference points to make the line, "He can't see without his glasses," a line that can be laughed off.
So who's our MVP of "This Supercut Will Make You Cry?" It's American sweetheart, and actor supreme, Tom Hanks, as characters of his appear four separate times. Toy Story 3, Cast Away, Forrest Gump and, as previously mentioned, The Green Mile all had some of the most effective tear-jerking moments in the montage. Four instances, across the boundaries of animation, family friendly entertainment, and grown-up fairy tales – and all as sad as the last. However, even those moments can't beat the biggest cry-worthy moment we spotted in this reel, which you can watch in full below.
If the scene from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in which Spock sacrifices his life for the crew of the USS Enterprise doesn't take you back to the first time you saw that moment, and cried innocent Trek flavored tears, then we don't know what to say. It's that moment that hits us the hardest, as their friendship is so strong, that to see them say goodbye really hits us where we live. If we've totally bummed you out with this clip reel, we apologize. Now if you'll excuse us, we have to clean the monitor, as it's gotten rather blurry for no reason.
