Superman Leaps Large Screens
Superman isn’t only coming to the big screen, he’s coming to the really big screen. Warner Brothers has announced its upcoming continuation of the franchise that started almost thirty years ago will be hitting the super-big time with an IMAX 3D version.
Superman Returns will be the first live action film to go through the process of becoming an IMAX 3D film, although it won’t be the whole movie. Approximately twenty minutes of film will be 3D with a visual cue designed by director Bryan Singer indicating to the audience when to put on or take off their special 3D glasses. Singer has seen several of the scenes that have been converted and calls the work “absolutely amazing.”
Just seeing Superman Returns on a regular screen was exciting enough, but I may have to seek out an IMAX theater now, especially since the film won’t just be big, but also parts of it in IMAX 3D. This leaves me with one concern though: did they ever get the issue of Brandon Routh’s “package” resolved, or will that be super big in 3D as well?
