Superville?
Could Warner be copping out on something they were insistant that they'd never ever do?
Be aware this is all strictly rumour at the moment but word is that after McG finally departed the project the bosses at the WB have met up with Alfred Gough and Miles Miller over the possibility of developing the Superman movie as a take-off from their highly popular TV show Smallville.
The popularity of the tales of Clark Kent's early years has become a surprising hit for Warners and although it's star Tom Welling has always said he'd leave the show before ever donning the spandex Ys he's coming under increasing pressure as the show builds more and more towards it's inevitable end-point and the focus of the Superman movie shifts.
Word is there is some plan building to develop some kind of seperate Smallville movie, so could it be that the bosses have decided to try and reconcile the ideas? Who knows? The insiders are careful to stress that there is no confirmation that any of this could be happening and they could simply be discussing how exactly to keep the two projects running seperately yet concurrantly.
In the latest round of "who's who" rumours, there are supposedly six directors up for the role of helmsman for the project ranging from "most rumoured" to "fanboy dreaming":
Jonathan Frakes [“Thunderbirds”]
Robert Rodriguez [“One Upon A Time In Mexico”]
