Taming Of The Screw
Henry James was a reknowned novelist of the 1800's. A lot of his books have been turned into period piece movies, such as Portrait Of A Lady and Wings Of The Dove. All of you costume drama fans (all 3 of you) can get set to rejoice! Another one of his books are getting special big screen attention from Universal and Vertigo Entertainment.
According to Hollywood Reporter, his classic scary tale "The Turn Of The Screw" is being adapted with a contemporary spin. The title has also been shortened to The Turning, for reasons unknown. Less money to spend on ink for the posters? Chad and Carey Hayes will write the script and Vertigo's Roy Lee and Doug Davison will produce.
The story is about a caretaker who gets a job watching two orphaned children at their family's isolated estate. When the caretaker arrives, she discovers that the kids seem a bit off, and she may be losing them to evil spirits with a secret tie to their past. What that means beats the heck out of me, but good luck with that.
Sounds like Lemony Snickets, without a scary make-up covered Jim Carrey. And probably minus the humor too.
