As a template to the unreliability of this story I will tell you that it comes from that black hole of tabloid celebrity gossip IMDb. So treat it with a sensible amount of caution and context.

It could also just be DeNiro fishing for ra project that does not suck by reminding everyone he used to be a great actor.
Sure in this day and age, where Carlito's Way gets a rather shaky sequel and Scarface gets adapted into a video-game even though GTA: Vice City essentially was that videogame 4 years ago, something could stick, but really... would we want it to.
