Fox is switching around release dates on some of their big upcoming tentpoles. Most notably according to Variety the A-Team movie is being delayed and is now without a director as a consequence.

You knew having a director like John Singleton involved to make something out of a cheesy 80s television show was too good to be true. Fox wants more time for rewrites on the script, and Singleton isn’t waiting around. So Fox has bumped the A-Team release date from June 12, 2009 to June 11, 2010. Don’t be surprise is even that date changes, since they’re now in the hunt for a director and it sounds like they don’t even have a completed script. Anything could happen, or maybe the A-Team won’t happen at all. I think we can all agree the world world, and Mr. T in particular, would be better off.

Also doing the release date hokey pokey at Fox is their Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel, or as their calling it the “Squeakuel”. Cute right? They’re setting it up to compete with Disney’s Princess and the Frog on Christmas Day of 2009. Princess and the Frog is Disney’s return to doing 2D animated movies. In other words while both films may be targeting the same family friendly audience, they couldn’t possibly be more different. I have a bad feeling Disney may come out the loser here.

Other changes include The Rock’s Tooth Fairy moving to Thanksgiving 2009, while Hayden Panettiere’s I Love You Beth Cooper and the newly trailered Ashley Tisdale comedy The Came From Upstairs moving to July 10, 2009 and July 31, 2009 respectively. Enjoy Tisdale in HSM 3 this weekend kids, it’ll be nine months before you see her again.

New release dates have also been set. Ramona, based on the popular series of books of the same name, is coming on July 10, 2010. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief about a modern day man who incurs the wrath of the Greek Gods is coming on July 2, 2010.
