Thanksgiving is the one time of year that Hollywood goes in for a five day weekend and the first three days are usually telling of how the real weekend will go. This year the clear leader, poised to be number one for the weekend, is Disney's Enchanted. the best movie the studio has churned out in about the last decade.

Since opening Wednesday the collision between fairy tales and reality has brought in nearly $30 million and is likely to reach nearly $50 million by the time the weekend is out. By way of odd box office trivia, Enchanted will be the first movie to open at number one over the Thanksgiving weekend in almost a decade.

Enchanted's success is no surprise, but the turn out for This Christmas was quite the shocker. The movie was expected to toll out somewhere in the low part of the top ten but instead is coming in at number two, handily beating out other newcomers August Rush and The Mist.

Video game entry Hitman is also beating out Rush and Mist, but that's to be expected. With the built in audience of gamer fans who would turn out for the movie even if looked like a total piece of garbage (which, by the way, it does) it's only to be expected that it would sneak into the top five for the holiday.

Full five-day weekend numbers will roll out tomorrow. Check back for the full update to see how well your favorite holiday entry fared.
