Thor: The Dark World Set Images Arrive From The UK
While Iron Man 3 has spent nearly the entire summer shooting in preparation for the film's May 3, 2013 release date, things are just getting started on Thor: The Dark World. The film is gearing up to start production in September, but there's a lot of work to do before the cameras start rolling, and part of that is building the sets. And today we have our first look at how that process is going. Check out some new photos that were taken in Bourne Woods in the UK below.
The photos come to us from Super Hero Hype and you can click on each one to see it full size in the gallery over there.
Set to be directed by Alan Taylor, best known for his work on the HBO series Game of Thrones, the film will follow the events of both Thor and The Avengers as the God of Thunder travels through the other nine realms in order to stop a new rising evil force. As the title of the sequel implies, a good deal of the movie will be set in Svartalfheim and it has been all but confirmed that the central villain will be the leader of the Dark Elves, Malekith The Accursed. While Mads Mikkelsen of Casino Royale fame was originally going to play the antagonist role, he departed the project in favor of playing Hannibal Lecter in the upcoming NBC series about the character and has since been replaced by former Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston. It was also recently reported that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will also be on the side of the baddies.
Returning for the sequel will be Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Rene Russo, Jamie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgard, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano (with Zachary Levi set to replace Josh Dallas as Fandral). Thor: The Dark World will arrive in theaters on November 8, 2013 and you can read more about it in our Blend Film Database.
