Thor Gets His Warriors Three

I’ll admit that I don’t know all that much about Thor. I know that he’s a godlike figure with a hammer and weird helmet. I know that his alter ego is Donald Blake, a partially paralyzed surgeon whose body was occupied by Thor because his dad Odin thought he needed to learn humility. That’s one way to parent, I suppose. That’s about where my knowledge drops off. So I don’t know all that much about the Warriors Three, but I do know who will be playing them in the Thor movie.

According to ComingSoon.net (originally from a Variety article that has now disappeared), Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano have all signed on to play the Warriors Three, Thor’s homeboys and companions in war. The three join the already star-studded cast that includes Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Hemsworth. The adaptation is set to release on May 20, 2011.

I can’t say I’m extremely excited for this superhero adaptation. It blends my least two favorite subjects for film: obscure comic books and period subject matter. But at the end of the day, Natalie Portman will have a role, and as long as I forget about her rant about veganism on the Huffington Post a few weeks ago, this will likely be on my list of things to watch.

The fact that the Variety article was removed may indicate that the news is not true, but we're betting on the fact that it was leaked too early. We'll let you know either way.
