Three Clips From Babylon A.D.

Vin Diesel is pretty much the definition of all-American, red-meat action star, but since his next movie Babylon A.D. is by a French director, we have to rely on our neighbors to the way East to give us three new clips from the movie. French website Premiere.fr is hosting the clips, which give us a good look at director Matthieu Kassovitz’s idea of a future dystopia.

I can’t quit thinking of Babylon A.D. as a Children of Men knockoff, largely because the plots are so similar—man winds up ushering a young girl across a desolate landscape because the girl is carrying a precious baby, with the help of an older woman. But the clips do the job to get us to forget about that earlier movie, mostly because of the second two—a cluster of refugees walk across ice until a submarine emerges out of it (huh??), and Diesel drives through a futuristic city that is way more Blade Runner than Children of Men.

If you don’t understand French (neither do I, it’s OK!), the clips are on the site under the “extraits” section. Babylon A.D. comes out on August 29, so when you’re sick of seeing Seth Rogen and Ben Stiller play action stars, Vin Diesel will come around to show you what the real deal looks like.
