Todd Graff Visits The Slammer
Director Todd Graff is leaving camp and heading for cinematic incarceration.
According to Variety, Graff (helmer of 2003’s Camp) is replacing Adam Shankman as director of the upcoming Sarah Jessica Parker vehicle Slammer, for Revolution Studios.
In the dark comedy, Parker plays a pushy publicist that winds up in jail after being framed for theft. She is sent to the aptly named Sing Sing prison, where she produces an inmate musical to salvage what is left of her reputation and career. The script is written by Sara Goodman, based on a story by Tim Metcalfe and John Slotnick.
Parker has a musical theater background, so this project seems right up her alley. I can only hope that her character won't be a third as annoying as the one she played in the recent Christmas downer The Family Stone. The film will shoot this fall in her home town of New York City.
