Tom Cruise Falls Into A Deadly Time Loop In Edge Of Tomorrow Trailer
Cassandra complex is the ability to see the future, but being powerless to do anything to change it. It's a dilemma that has fueled the imaginations of many filmmakers in the direction of time travel adventures. Terry Gilliam explored it with Twelve Monkeys. Before him, Chris Marker did in La Jetee. Duncan Jones took it on with the Jake Gyllenhaal vehicle Source Code. Tony Scott had Déjà vu, and Rian Johnson unfurled Looper with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. Now Blunt is back for more time loop drama with Edge of Tomorrow, whose stunning trailer is viewable above.
Blunt plays co-star to A-lister Tom Cruise in this sci-fi actioner from Bourne Identity director Doug Liman. Warner Bros provides this official plot synopsis:
With Liman helming and Cruise as its leading man, we expect Edge of Tomorrow will be a serious box office contender when it opens next summer. But it's gravy that it actually looks pretty damn thrilling. Though he's 51-years-old, the same age Wilford Brimley was when he was in Cocoon, Cruise doesn't seem to have lost a step as an action hero. For the past three years, he's fronted an action thriller, be it Knight & Day, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Jack Reacher and Oblivion. And even when some of these have underperformed, it hasn't slowed him down.
Couple his star power with the inventive action directing of Liman, and Edge of Tomorrow seems guaranteed to kick ass next summer. Plus, its story is pretty compelling, and the action sequences teased seem sensational. But with the film not opening until June 6th, 2014, we have got a ways to wait. In the meantime, we suggest you follow the twitter account Embedded UDF for sneak peeks at this thriller based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's novel All You Need Is Kill. Playing into the world of the film, this account lets loose tweets from the future, more specifically images and reports from the frontlines of wartorn Verdun, France.
