Tom Hiddleston Wants James Bond Producers To Know He's Very Interested
While there’s still a chance that Daniel Craig may reprise his role as James Bond the next time the British spy arrives on screen, most signs point to Craig moving on and the Bond producers needing to find a replacement. While a number of names have been thrown around as possible replacements, one name we haven’t seen mentioned much is Tom Hiddleston. Maybe he should be put on any short list that exists, if for no other reason than he’d take the job.
While James Bond is an iconic role that you’d think any actor would love to take, the role has been turned down before. Just because producers might want a certain actor, doesn’t mean they’ll get whoever they want. The UK’s Sunday Times recently caught up with Tom Hiddleston and asked him about the part. He didn’t play coy. He’s a big James Bond fan and would love to try his hand at portraying the super spy.
Best known to movie audiences for playing Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the first thought for some might be that Tom Hiddleston could play a great Bond villain and, let's face it, he would, however, the actor has his eyes on the prize. We’d have to say that producers could actually go much worse that Hiddleston. Part of what made Loki such a great bad guy was how cool he was, even under the roughest of circumstances. It’s a quality that James Bond certainly shares. Loki was also a part that required a certain amount of physicality, so we know that Hiddleston can handle things like fight scenes. You know what, we’re sold, sign this guy up.
Following the release of Spectre, there has been much speculation that Daniel Craig has about had his fill of playing James Bond. At the very least he’s made it clear that he needs a break. MGM is reportedly willing to put off the next Bond movie to give Craig the time he wants in order to get him to return, but everything else we’re hearing is pointing to him being done with the franchise.
Would you rather see Daniel Craig return, or are you looking forward to a new James Bond? Is Tom Hiddleston a good choice for the part, or would you rather see somebody else take over?
