Total Recall takes on the box office this weekend, opening in midnight showings around the country last night. In theory this isn’t exactly a remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger film, but a new adaptation of the Philip K. Dick story on which that movie was based. In practice, aside from the fact that it’s no longer set on Mars, there are far too many similarities between old and new to gift the 2012 Total Recall with the title of “reboot”.
Whether a reboot or a remake this new Colin Farrell starring adventure, in theory, promises big action and stunning special effects for anyone willing to buy a ticket. Will it deliver? You tell us.
