Trailer Trash - 09/10/04

The problem with these editorials is that I'll think of a load of cool stuff I'll talk about midway through the week, then forget it all come friday. It's a level of frustration akin to just about scoring with that hot chick in high school who you finally convinced that you weren't a nerd, only to have your annoying brat younger brother burst in the room at the critical moment spoiling the whole plan.

So with that bit of horny teen nostalgia out of the way, lets look at a bunch of trailers, none of which ironically, are for a teenage sex comedy.

I really need to do more research for this part of the feature next week... *sigh* If it's any consolation I'm writing today's TT while drinking lots of ultra-cheap beer...

Coming soon to a theatre near you...

Shaun Of The Dead

Released: 24th September 2004

Have you seen this yet? No, that's because it's not out for another week. I have because it came out in the UK about six months ago! Nya-nya. Scarier than the Dawn Of The Dead remake and more intentionally funny than the ridiculous Resident Evil: Apocalypse this is one you really shouldn't miss. Go read my review here! Pimpin'...

SAW

Released: 29th October 2004

How old is Danny Glover? Wasn't he "too old for this shit" and retiring waaay back in 1988? Guess not, but then again, he might as well have retired with movies like Gone Fishin' and the woeful Lethal Weapon 4 being his biggest movies of the last 10 years. But now he's got a new movie and if the movie lives up to the hype could be the best psychological horror/thriller since ol' Tony Hopkins started chowin' down on livers and brains. To that end, here is your first look at SAW... not for the squeamish. Do the right thing... do what the woman in the picture is doing... and See Saw... ahthankyou!

Ae Fond Kiss

Released: TBC

Time to pimp some home grown movie action now I think. Seeing as everyone lapped up Bend It Like Beckham, veteran British director Ken Loach has decided to tackle the issue of inter-racial relations in a slightly more serious romantic drama. Don't mistake the title for annoying french arthouse flick, it's actually the title of a poem by legendary Scots poet Robert Burns. Anyway, the cast is virtually unknown, the director has won about a million awards at Cannes over the years and the whole thing looks pretty watchable. Plus it's all filmed right here in Scotland. Which automatically gives it a by for me.

The Boys From County Claire

Released: 11th March 2005 (limited)

Yes, yes, you can all thank me in much more cheap french beer later. More smutty trailers for your liking. I can't guarantee this will be a weekly occurance, you'll have to get your jollies in the Michelle Branch thread in the forum with all the perv guests in the intermittance (Is that a word? Do I care right now?). Anyway, keeping in spirit with the distinctly British feel of this weeks TT. Here's a quirky little gentle Irish tale of music and love and titillating nudity (is there any other kind) from the makers of cult classic Waking Ned Devine.NOT WORK SAFE! Consider yourself warned you prudes!
