Tropic Thunder Writer Theroux Tackles Indian Casinos
Justin Theroux was bopping around for a while as an actor, but has somehow pulled off a second career renaissance as a screenwriter, taking to the page for last summer's Tropic Thunder and the upcoming Iron Man 2. And while his directorial debut Dedication didn't really make any waves when it was released in 2007 (I loved it, for what it's worth) he's getting ready to make his big studio directing debut with Chief Ron.
Yeah, the title makes it sound like some bad early 90s Chris Elliott or Rob Schneider movie, but the story, as described in Variety, seems more promising than that. The story, written by Jordan Roberts, is based on the real-life Chief Ron Roberts, who fought in court to claim his Native American ancestry and is currently building a casino in upstate New York. Apparently the guy looks more like Randall McMurphy than Chief from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. But hey, heritage is heritage.
