If the trailer for Uwe Boll’s 1968 Tunnel Rats is any indication, the filmmaker’s days of glory may be behind us. There are no overwhelming celebrities appearing here, making us wonder what bet the likes of Ben Kingsley lost to appear in this kind of movie. It’s not even based on a video game like most of Boll’s films to date, although the director told us a game was being made based on the movie.

In fact, other than the opening production slate, there’s really nothing here to link Tunnel Rats to Uwe Boll, which may be part of the point behind the ad campaign. Of course, there’s nothing here that stands out as noteworthy either. The trailer looks mostly like some generic Vietnam war movie with some gratuitous violence thrown in for good measure. Actually, that’s probably a good description of what to expect from the movie, Boll’s name attached or not. By not giving the filmmaker a specific credit in the trailer, however, there’s a chance Tunnel Rats could draw some interest from those Vietnam obsessed folks who would turn their nose up at a Boll movie… whoever they may be.
