Twilight Fans Camp Out For Days Before The Breaking Dawn Premiere

A tent-city has formed outside the Nokia theater in Los Angeles as die-hard Twilight fans have convened in anticipation of the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. While the film doesn’t actually premiere for another few days, that isn’t stopping fans from lining up early.

These Twilight fans clearly aren’t above roughing-it in the name of their love for the movies (and likely, the Stephenie Meyer books on which they’re based.). ABC 7 got footage of the throngs of Twi-hards who are willing to camp out for days while counting down until the premiere of the film that’s set to take place there on Monday (November 14th).

While it’s likely non-Twilight fans will roll their eyes at the fanaticism of people who are willing to spend days sleeping on the ground and possibly going without a shower and a decent meal for a while, all for the sake of Twilight-love, it looks like this is as much about meeting up with other fans and celebrating their shared love for the movies and books, as it is about seeing Breaking Dawn and maybe catching a glimpse of one of the stars. As someone who lined up for the Harry Potter book releases and who has experienced the geeky thrill of being a part of an enthusiastic crowd at just about any given panel at Comic Con, there’s definitely something to be said for sharing a passion for something with other people who love it as much as you do. In that respect, as extreme as it is (five days?!), I sort of get it.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 hits theaters on November 18th. More on the film can be found in the Blend Film Database.
