Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor Trailer Has Sex, Stars & Violence
You've heard the expression "the cobbler's children go barefoot," right? In case you haven't, it's a metaphor that speaks to when one's professional skills fail to impact their personal life in a helpful way. In the case of Tyler Perry's latest drama Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, this idiom would apply to Judith, an Ivy League educated relationship expert whose marriage of six years is in crisis. The passion is gone, so when a fiery and very rich client comes into her office seeking advice, the pair sparks an attraction that leads to temptation.

The feature is flush with television stars. Friday Night Lights' Jurnee Smollett headlines as Judith. Perry's House of Pain alum Lance Gross plays Brice, and Robbie Jones of Hellcats and One Tree Hill takes on the role of Judith's would-be lover Harley. Lending supporting, and boosting Temptation's star power are singers turned TV regulars Brandy Norwood and Vanessa Williams, as well as reality TV star and gossip page regular Kim Kardashian, who is making her first film appearance since the little-known R-rated comedy from 2009 Deep in the Valley.
The trailer is about as subtle as sledgehammer, but really that suits the kind of melodrama tone it seems Perry, who wrote, directed and produced this picture, is going for. Still, I find the use of Rihanna's Love the Way You Lie Part 2 disturbing if not flat-out exploitative. I mean, am I the only one who can't disassociate the song about an abusive relationship from thoughts of the singer's personal but very public problems?
Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor opens on March 29th, 2013.
