Kill Bill is the perfect movie for multiple sequels. Like Kevin Smith's Clerks and Before Sunrise, it’s the type of film that warrants multiple visits to the characters several years down the road. So when Quentin Tarantino said right after the release of Kill Bill that he’d like to visit the daughters of the characters ten years down the road, I was on board immediately.
But now it seems as though Tarrantino is more serious than ever about a sequel. So serious, in fact, that he’s even talking to his Kill Bill star, Uma Thurman, about it. Interviewed by MTV, Thurman says, "We did chat, we did chat. He has not yet finished the script. I don't even really know if he's really started it, although I got a taste of some of his ideas and they are really good.” To hear an actress so excited about a sequel is always a good sign, especially one that isn’t necessarily attached yet.
Tarrantino previously stated that he’d have Kill Bill 3 out by 2014, but we’ve heard that before. Wasn’t Inglourious Basterds supposed to come out like six years ago? Either way, I imagine it’ll come one day, and I’m sure it’ll be awesome. But at the same time, part of me wishes that he’d spend his time on something else. A Tarrantino movie is so rare, after all.
