When Vicky Christina Barcelona was a subject on everyone’s mind, it was back when rumors of Penelope Cruz-Scarlett Johansson-Javier Bardem three-way were flying around. I mean, who wouldn’t be interested in that? But then Woody Allen himself came out saying the movie wasn’t that steamy, and the trailer, while featuring a brief Cruz-Johansson kiss, wasn’t too much to get all hot and bothered about.
But with the first official poster for the movie, available below, those rumors will probably be flying again. Not only does it feature close-ups of the three insanely attractive stars, but it has all three of them in close proximity, and possibly a romantic situation. Is the three-way back?!?
Either way, it’s an effective poster, revealing a little bit of the stars but leaving parts of their faces out. All of their facial expressions are a little hard to read as well, adding an air of mystery about the whole thing. At the same time, the colors are bright and pretty, as if they’re all sitting on a picnic blanket somewhere. Overall it fits with the mood of the trailer, which emphasized the comedy over the torrid Spanish affair part of the movie.
The title is still insane, but Vicky Cristina Barcelona is looking like a better and better prospect come August 15. Now all it has to do is live up to the promise of its hot stars.
