Video: Inside United 93
The expected controversy over V for Vendetta never materialized. Not because conservatives were happy with it, but because they all decided the best way to avoid having to discuss it was to ignore it. Probably a smart move for them.
That leaves United 93 alone to be the year's big controversy movie. Directed by Paul Greengrass, it's the story of the one hi-jacked plane that didn't reach its destination. Greengrass deserves a little credit already for it… so far he's avoided using the words "Let's roll" in any of the movies advertisements or posters.
So if you're a little concerned that the director of The Bourne Supremacy is making a movie about 9/11, they're doing their best to allay your fears. Last week in theaters everywhere a new behind the scenes short look at the making of the film debuted as part of the in-theater advertising most movie houses are running before the main feature and its accompanying previews. Now that "Look Inside" is online.
You should watch it.
I'm not going to pretend it's made me feel better about this movie being made, but at least it gives us some idea of exactly what Greengrass is thinking in making it. It looks like it won't be a disaster. That doesn't mean I want to see it, it just means it looks like he's doing the best he can with it.
