Joel Silver’s recent comments about the ressurection of his Wonder Woman plans gave me some hope we might see a Wachowski Brothers directed movie about the Amazon princess. Unfortunately, it looks like the Brothers may have their hands full already with plans in other areas. According to Silver, the Brothers already have plans for sequels to their next movie as well as a film their protégé hasn’t even started filming yet.
It must be interesting to interview Silver because I have yet to read the same words from the producer from two sites. Today Collider is in the spotlight, where Silver discussed the future plans of the Wachowski Brothers. This is from the recent press junket on Speed Racer and Silver stuck to the topic of Speedy and company with Collider and mentioned that the Wachowskis have plans for a sequel, “if it makes sense to make it” (i.e. if Speed Racer is enough of a commercial success to warrant a second picture).
Silver also gave a little bit of information about James McTeigue’s next project, Ninja Assassin, which is based on a script by the Wachowskis, much like his previous film V For Vendetta. According to the producer, the Brothers have plans for a sequel for that movie too, even though it hasn’t started filming (it starts shooting in 3 weeks).
So, “sequel” is the word when it comes to the Wachowskis, which makes me wonder if we shouldn’t start prepping for another round of Matrix sequel rumors. After all, if they want to stick with what works, they know they’ve got a world ripe for more storytelling there.
