When you’ve been boasting about the top-secret nature of your project, it makes even the smallest bit of information about the piece big news. You know that war movie the Wachowskis have been working on? It’s got a name. And I’m not just referring to CN9, the title we thought the film was going by just a few weeks ago. According to Deadline, CN9 actually stands for Cobalt Neutral 9.

What does that have to do with a homosexual relationship between a US soldier and Iraqi in the midst of war? I’ve got no clue. The only sense I can make of the title is that if cobalt has anything to do with the actual element, the number may be referencing the group it falls in on the periodic table. There’s also the possibility that the meaning could lie in the abbreviated form, CN9. It stands for the 9th cranial nerve. What does this have to do with the story? Again, I come up empty, but hopefully more facts will be on the way because casting is underway.

The title new came up in a piece addressing the issue that actors aren’t permitted to see more and more full scripts nowadays because they’re being kept top secret. Apparently Cobalt Neutral 9 is one of them and that’s making it hard for agents to give their clients advice on the project. Perhaps this can pose a problem in some situations, but when it comes to the Wachowskis, I doubt it’ll keep decent actors out of their reach. Say what you want about Speed Racer, but they still got The Matrix on their resumes.
