Watch 6 Minutes Of Ant-Man On The Big Screen This Weekend
Are you a big Marvel fan? If so, you might want to find a screening of Jurassic World in IMAX this weekend, as your effort will be rewarded with a sneak peek at some exclusive footage from the upcoming blockbuster Ant-Man.
IMAX made the official announcement on their homepage today, announcing that a full six minutes of the Peyton Reed-directed film will be showing both domestically and internationally in front of screenings of the new dinosaur adventure movie arriving in theaters on Friday. Unfortunately, at this time there isn't any information available regarding what will be shown in the special new clip, though a brand new preview has been released promoting the special event:
Showing early previews of films on the big screen isn't exactly a new strategy in Hollywood, and it's even one that Marvel Studios has used in the past to promote their titles. It was around this time last year that fans were invited to head to their local cineplexes for a very special early look at Guardians of the Galaxy. The difference between that event and this one is that James Gunn's movie showed off 17 minutes instead of just six - but then again the footage wasn't also playing in front of one of the biggest movies of the year. Personally, I think this strategy is a lot better, as it means that when fans go to see the full film, there won't be a huge chunk that has a taste of "seen it already."
If not just because many fans still don't know what to make of Ant-Man, there exists a good opportunity with this special footage preview. Thanks to the shrinking power possessed by the film's titular hero, the film promises to have action scenes unlike anything we've ever seen, and this special IMAX presentation is a great chance to show some of that off.
In Ant-Man, Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang, a thief trying to leave his criminal past behind him when he is given the opportunity of a life-time. He is approached by an old scientist named Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who offers him the chance to not only becoming the shrinking superhero known as Ant-Man, but to help rescue a dangerous piece of technology from a colleague (Corey Stoll) who will not hesitate to sell it to the highest bidder. The movie's impressive cast is rounded out with Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Judy Greer, Tip "Ti" Harris, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, and Jordi Mollà, and the full film will be arriving in theaters on July 17th.
