Watch The Back To The Future DeLorean Get Restored
If you're a fan of the countless restoration shows and car porn you can find on basic cable these days, then Out Of Time: Saving The DeLorean Time Machine will probably entertain you on a whim. But if you're a true, dyed in the wool, Back To The Future fan – then you're going to be amazed by what we've got to show you in the trailer below.
Vimeo saves the day again, as they have the trailer to filmmaker and Back To The Future fan Steve Concotelli's documentary on the efforts to restore the original DeLorean from the 1985 classic, upon its 25th anniversary in 2010. With Temporal FX's Joe Walser heading the restoration, as well as co-writer/producer Bob Gale and Universal Studios helping the team along, the original time machine that brought Marty McFly into one of the most memorable temporal paradoxes will eventually come back from the grave, and into the future. Much like the Ecto-1A before it, someone decided that the childhood memories of the world were worth saving, which lead to the documentary you see in front of your very eyes.
Watching the trailer for Out Of Time: Saving The DeLorean Time Machine, it's amazing to think of just how some of the greatest movie props and vehicles have been allowed, at one point or another, to fall into disrepair. But the past is in the past, and a DeLorean isn't going to change the lack of attention Doc Brown's fabulous machine suffered.
The efforts of some die-hard fans and Universal's commitment to honoring the Back To The Future franchise are all at the heart of Out Of Time: Saving The DeLorean Time Machine's narrative thrust. Instead of yet another behind the scenes look at the trilogy, Steve Contotelli's documentary looks to take an approach more focused on the nuts and bolts of restoring the DeLorean, while telling the story of what happened after time had supposedly run out for one of the most famous time machines in science fiction history.
With the 30th anniversary of the original Back To The Future taking place this summer, everything from a secret anniversary screening, a stage musical version from the UK, and an actual, honest to goodness hoverboard will be waiting to help fans dream once more of the adventures that they grew up memorizing all of the words to. Out Of Time: Saving The DeLorean Time Machine looks like a great addition to the already stuffed list of wonderful ways to celebrate the birth of Marty McFly.
Out Of Time Saving The DeLorean Time Machine is looking to be released in October, and you can help it along the home stretch at the film's official Kickstarter page.
