Above is the trailer to Intramural, debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month. The comedy teams people from all sorts of comedic backgrounds, including Saturday Night Live, Derrick Comedy and Upright Citizens Brigade. The end result is a comedy about a man who doesn't want to grow up, dedicated instead to reuniting his former intramural football team to settle old scores. Hilarity, some of the fourth-wall-breaking nature, ensues.
You might recognize that lead actor, even if you can't exactly place him. Well do your research you lazy bum, that's Jake Lacy. Lacy mostly made his name on TV, popping up on The Office and the late Better With You, though he was unfortunately booted from the underrated, burnt-off-in-the-summer Goodwin Games. He recently graduated to love interest with the sweet upcoming comedy-drama Obvious Child, which A24 is releasing in the summer, a film that also features a who's who of comedy talent, including ex-SNL star Jenny Slate.
Among the other names here are SNL vets Kate McKinnon, Jay Pharoah and this year's rookie Beck Bennett. DC Pierson is borrowed from the Derrick Comedy troupe as well, while the group reached outside of their circle to add Twilight and Thirteen vet Nikki Reed. There's also Sam Eidson, who was a revelation in the otherwise intolerable nerd epic Zero Charisma. This is one of those covertly talented casts: weirdly enough, the most famous face in the group might belong to the cameoing Clint Howard.
This is the second directorial effort for Andrew Disney, who has zero relation to Walt even if his name probably opened more than a few doors. His previous effort, Searching For Sonny was a festival award winner, the trailer which you can give a peek below. Check the Tribeca listings for when you can catch Intramural. We're also including a clip from Obvious Child, which deserves to be a big hit amongst comedy nerds, featuring Jake Lacy using his pee-pee missles, because that's what charming guys do.
