Will We See A Black Widow Solo Movie After The Avengers?
Marvel apparently really likes making movies, and can you blame them? People love comic book movies and are happy to shill out the big bucks to go see them. At some point, however, we are going to reach a saturation point (in 2012 there will be six major comic book adaptations) and people will begin to lose interest. I fear that may get kick started with a Black Widow solo movie. For the release of Iron Man 2 on Blu-ray, SuperHero Hype talked to studio head Kevin Feige about the possibilities of Black Widow, played by Scarlet Johansson in the Iron Man sequel, getting her own film. He responded, "We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but The Avengers comes first."
Do fans even really want to see a Black Widow movie? Not to knock Johansson's performance (she was actually quite good in the role despite the lack of a Russian accent) but the character is a supporting player in the world of S.H.I.E.L.D. Then again, it would be two hours of Scarlet Johansson walking around in a tight body suit. They may get me on board yet.
