The American populous has spoken. This week drama is in; funny is out. Maybe it's because allergy season has started. Maybe its the presence of a new pope. Maybe people just wanted to cry a lot more than laugh. Whatever the reason, it doesn't bode well for this week's new releases. Four new films debuted this week, three of which were comedies. The fourth, a suspense drama took top honors leaving the others to mingle with the repeats. The good news is that audiences seem to have seen through the silliness of King's Ranson. It barely made the list. On the other end of the spectrum at number one was The Interpreter. Nevermind it probably didn't make enough to cover its lead star's salaries. Somewhere in the middle was the CB pick of the week, the strange concoction Kung Fu Hustle. Look for it to climb a little higher next week once word of mouth gets around.
