Weekend Box Office

You can tell the summer movie season is ending. With six out of the ten top flicks this weekend making over ten million, and none of them broke twenty. Father Merrin Vs. El Diablo beat out Seth Green Vs. a Bear, Julie Andrews Vs. Credibility, and last weeks number one Alien Vs. Predator. AVP found itself with a 67% drop off since it’s reign last week (The Village had a bigger drop off). Open Water and Garden State have been around a few weeks already it seems audiences are finding these little indies. Of course Water’s expansion didn’t hurt. Zach Braff’s debut film is still only playing on less then a thousand screens. Breaching the top ten might help it boom the theatre count.

Summer winners Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2 have dropped off the radar, but not without leaving a dent in history. Both breached the All Time Domestic Top Ten. Spidey swung past Jurassic Park with $365.3 Mill to take the ninth slot and that green ogre...Nemo who? Shrek definitely journeyed to “Far Far Away” topping E.T. The Extra Terrestrial to swipe the third slot on the list. It doesn’t look as if Shrek’s going anywhere. It’s $14 Mill away from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and $165 Mill behind Titanic. But still, that ain’t bad for an animated summer sequel. Anyways, enough yapping...Here’s this week’s Top Ten...
