There's no accounting for taste. No matter how crappy a remake may be, people will still turn out to see it. That's America for you. We hate a movie that makes us rethink something. Give us the same thing rehashed no matter how much worse it may be than the original. We'll shell out to the wazoo for it and studios will be more than happy to do it.
Halloween, or at least Rob Zombie's remake of it, was the top dog this weekend. Top because is made the most money, and a dog because critics agree that it pretty much sucked. How exactly it came to make $26 million over the weekend is beyond me. Balls of Fury, which critics agree was only slightly better than Halloween, made about $11 million while Kevin Bacon's Death Sentence racked up a measely $4 million coming in at eighth place.
