Werewolves Come To The Rescue In New Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones Trailer

While everyone points to Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games as examples of blockbuster hits, the truth is that the young adult adaptation genre has seen its fair share of disappointments over the last few years. I Am Number Four, based on the book by Pittacus Lore (aka Jobie Hughes and James Frey), and Beautiful Creatures, based on the work of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, were both box office disappointments, and even Stephenie Meyer's The Host, which just came out last weekend, was considered an under-performer. So what will the fates have in store for The Mortal Instruments?
Based on the first book in the series by Cassandra Clare, the new movie stars Lily Collins as Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl whose life is suddenly thrown into chaos when her mother (Lena Headey) is kidnapped. Looking for her mom, Clary discovers that she is actually anything but normal, and instead is the youngest in a long line of Shadowhunters, half-angels who protect the world from demons. Teaming up with a group of fellow warriors, she begins her quest for her missing mother while also working to save the city from all different kinds of creatures of the night. Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid remake) directs, with the supporting cast including Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Kevin Durand, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, CCH Pounder, Jared Harris, and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will be in theaters August 23rd.
