Whedon's Vampire Projects Get Staked
Good news for anyone tired of Whedonites. The long rumored "Buffy" television show spin off movies are dead.
Actress Amy Acker, who played Fred on the Buffy TV spin off Angel, tells SyFy Portal, "I think it's safe to say its not happening anymore." What exactly is the something? There was talk of more than just a movie. At one point spin-offs for several different Buffyverse characters were rumored to be in the works. Some of them might have been television shows, some might have been movies. She says it's all done for.
What happened? Acker says "Fox couldn't get it together the way Joss wanted to do them." That could mean a lot of things, but I choose to believe that after the mega-failure of Serenity Joss has burned up all his freebies and if he wants to keep working for anyone he's now stuck doing things their way. They gave him some rope with Serenity and he hung himself. Whatever Joss does next, expect him to be kept on a tighter reign. He probably just didnt want to do Buffy under those circumstances. It is after all, his baby. Better to let it simply rest.
J August Richards, another "Angel" alum confirmed what Acker told SyFy Portal. It doesn't sound like there's much of a future now for any of Joss's fanboy properties. "Firefly", "Buffy", "Angel"; it's all dead. Maybe now we can shake off some of his annoying, obsessed fans. Hug your DVD box sets Whedonites, it's all you have.
