No Whedon for X3
According to a highly trustworthy anonymous CB source (Yes! We finally have one of our own!!) Joss Whedon will not be directing X3. Ok sure a lot of other guys are reporting pretty much the same thing, but dammit, we got it from our own anonymous source and we’re proud of it.
While attending his “High Stakes: Whedon Fans For Kerry-Edwards” get together in Hollywood, Whedon mixed in a few fan questions about his directing plans along with a big pile of political stumping for the Democratic party. Because George Bush hates Vampires. Whedon revealed that he isn’t directing X3… mostly because he hasn’t been asked.
This will likely only change the current fanboy rumors floating around out there into fanboy petitions demanding Fox hire Whedon to direct the next X-flick. Personally, I’m breathing a little sigh of relief. While I really like Whedon and am eagerly looking forward to his big screen translation of “Firefly”, to me he just never felt quite right for the next mutant project.
Instead, Mr. Whedon is hard at work on another film project, which according to him has nothing at all to do with anything he’s done previously. No word on what that project is exactly, except a vague description claiming that it “combines every genre ever”. Sounds a lot like Spam, which combines every meat ever into one not so tasty loaf. Throwing everything in to one pot rarely works.
