Where And When The Deadpool Redband Trailer Will Finally Air
Ever since 20th Century Fox brought a reel of Deadpool footage to San Diego Comic Con, fans have been wondering when those of us outside of Hall H would be able to see Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth in filthy, bloody action. Now, we finally have an answer.
Ryan Reynolds will be on Conan O’Brien’s late night talk show on Tuesday, August 4, according to the program’s official Web site, and will be bringing a red-band clip from the movie. In anticipation for the arrival of the raunchy red-band Deadpool footage, Team Coco claims that they are filling up Reynolds’ dressing room with chimichangas. Way to know your guest’s needs, Conan!
That’s not all, though. SuperheroHype reports that a green-band trailer for next February’s Deadpool movie will be attached to Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four film when it opens in theaters on August 7. This makes total and complete sense, as Fox is releasing both films. They are both based on the heroic adventures of comic-book characters. And if the studio wants to let a wider audience know that they have Deadpool coming to theaters, you’d want to appeal to the folks who just paid to see Marvel’s first family on screen.
The report even adds that the red-band trailer is 17 seconds longer. That’s 17 additional seconds of foul language and, hopefully, some gratuitous violence.
We were lucky enough to be in Hall H when Fox showed the first Deadpool footage. The clip introduced Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), a former mercenary who has been diagnosed with cancer. He takes a wild, alternative treatment offered by mysterious strangers and, as a result, ends up with incredible powers. During the Comic-Con panel, Reynolds and his cast assured fans that they are getting to the heart and funny bone of Deadpool, meaning that the character who previously had his mouth sewed shut in X-Men: Origins – Wolverine absolutely will NOT shut up in this origin-story reboot.
In addition to Reynolds, the new Deadpool movie – directed by Tim Miller, and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick – stars TJ Miller, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein and Gina Carano. Fans of the Marvel universe hopefully will get a chance to see X-Men standout Colossus in the new footage that airs next week, either in the green band or red band trailers, as he was a welcome surprise in the San Diego reel. Either way, the most important thing to convey in the first-look Deadpool footage will be the character’s sense of humor, so mark Tuesday on your calendar, Deadpool fans, and get ready to analyze some (hopefully) incredible imagery.
