Whitaker Gets Vantage
Forest Whitaker continues to be an actor who amazes me with the roles he takes. From the naïve soldier in Good Morning Vietnam to the nemesis to Michael Chiklis’s Vic Mackey on “The Shield,” Whitaker keeps redefining versatile.
Next for the actor comes Pete Travis’s Vantage Point a film that will show an assassination attempt on the United States President in Madrid, told from five different points of view. Whitaker joins the cast, which already consists of Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, and William Hurt. Reuters reports Whitaker will play an American tourist who captures home video of the potential assassin.
Vantage Point is currently early in production with a tentative 2007 release date. Other upcoming projects for Whitaker include his already praised performance in The Last King of Scotland, Jieho Lee’s The Air I Breathe and a voice role in Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are.
