Why X-Men: Apocalypse Is The Biggest X-Men Movie Ever, According To Its Producer
X-Men: Apocalypse is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the new year. After the massive success that the most recent venture, Days of Future Past, was, fans of the Marvel mutants are looking forward to Bryan Singer’s next adventure in the X-Men universe. Simon Kinberg, who has worked on all of the X-Men films since The Last Stand, and is both producing and writing the screenplay for Apocalypse, recently spoke to what we can expect in the upcoming film:
Well, this certainly sounds promising. Simon Kinberg’s statement, which came from a recent Q & A with fans, makes it seem like we’re about to see a battle the size we’ve never seen before. The scale of the film seems large, and hype has continued to grow since the trailer was dropped.
The idea that X-Men: Apocalypse could be the largest X-Men movie seems almost impossible considering what we’ve seen. Days of Future Past was a superhero movie of epic proportions. Bryan Singer managed to unite the actors from the original trilogy, as well as those introduced in First Class. The sheer ensemble of the piece, combined with the high stakes mission Wolverine goes on in order to save mutantkind, made for a movie that seemed huge.
So, how exactly is Apocalypse going to be bigger than that? Well, the title of the movie is apparently a clue. The newest X-Men movie is dealing with a conflict that could result in the end of the world. Rather than a battle with Magneto and his cronies (again), the villain Apocalypse has the intention of completely wiping out the entire planet. That’s some serious stakes for a class of new mutants, including Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner, to have for their first mission. I guess that type of stress will do things to a person, including making Professor X apparently lose his hair.
X-Men: Apocalypse will fly into movie theaters on May 27th, 2016. Check out the video below to see Simon Kinberg’s statements regarding the newest X-Men adventure.
