Orson Scott Card's iconic science fiction book Ender's Game was optioned by Joel SIlver nearly four years ago, and since then we've heard barely anything about development on the project, which was taken as code that the project was dead. Now, somehow, the man who destroyed Wolverine may be the one to rescue Ender. According to The LA Times, X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood is developing the project, having done a rewrite of Card's script and with plans to direct.

Apparently there's no guarantee that Hood will actually stick with the project through the end, but his involvement means that there's a least someone out there with the desire to make it happen-- independent production company Odd Lot Entertainment is said to be the muscle behind this effort. Card's novel, published in 1985, is set in a dystopian future where children, including protagonist Ender Wiggin, are trained in the art of war from a very young age. There's plenty there that would make for great visuals on the screen, and I still maintain that Wolverine was ruined more by a meddling studio than Hood himself. But are you guys too burned by Wolvy's last outing to trust him on this one? Let us know in the comments.
