World War Z Super Bowl Spot Focuses On Zombie Mayhem
In addition to football players playing football, the Super Bowl is also a major event for commercials and new movie trailers and TV spots. This year, that'll include World War Z, Marc Forster's feature adaptation of Max Brooks' popular novel. The thirty-second spot focuses on zombie mayhem and danger for Brad Pitt's character Gerry Lane and his family.
The good news is, the TV spot, which comes courtesy of iTunes, is exciting and full of action and available to watch before Sunday's big game. The less exciting news is that a lot of what's featured looks familiar if you've seen the previously released trailer, with at least one notable exception. See if you can spot it.
It begins with Brad Pitt and Mireille Enos' Gerry and Karin playing 20 Questions with their kids, just as the theatrical trailer did, and then leads in to some other familiar scenes, including the swarm of zombies coming over the bus and the pile of them climbing up the wall at the end. The only major moment that I noticed that I didn't see in the original trailer was the plane crashing around the 23-second mark. We get a few glimpses of a plane in the theatrical trailer, but the terrifying scene with the passenger jet explosion and the disturbing glimpse of people being sucked out the hole in the side appears to be new. And one more piece of the mayhem in store for this film.
World War Z arrives in theaters June 21. More information, photos and video can be found in our Blend Film Database.
