The Wright Stuff
Move over Blow, there's a new drug-addict-turned-millionaire in town.
According to Variety, Joe Carnahan (Narc) will co-write and direct a biopic about Will Wright. Joseph F. Alexandre is working on the script with him, and FilmEngine will be in charge of financing and producing.
Will Wright was a high school genius who was the catalyst for a $70 million narcotics empire, at the raw age of 17. When he was caught by the feds in a sting operation and was discovered to be the mastermind of an international drug ring....well, he went to the slammer, naturally. He spent eight years in a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison. (If you don't get that reference, shame on you.)
He was freed 2 years ago, at the age of 26, and is helping with the project. Why the heck not? If I were that young and made such a startling (albeit illegal) mark, I'd want a movie to be made about me too. But as it is, watching me sit in a cubicle for eight hours answering phones probably wouldn't be too thrilling. More info on the drug frenzy project as it arises.
