X-Men: Apocalypse Video And Pictures Show Off Storm's Egyptian Lair
When Apocalypse awakens from his slumber next year, he’ll travel the world to find the four mutants who will become his Horsemen. In Storm’s case, she’ll be living in the slums of Cairo, and now we have our first in-depth look at what her Egyptian stomping grounds will look like in X-Men: Apocalypse. Take a look!
Director Bryan Singer recently took to Instagram to give fans a glimpse of Storm’s apartment in the 2016 blockbuster. While it is fairly spacious, the living quarters aren’t much to look at, but for Storm, a.k.a. Ororo Munroe it’s home. Singer also dropped some trivia by showing the set is only a few paces away from the bar seen in Roland Emmerich's upcoming film Stonewall. This is the latest peek we’ve seen of Egyptian environs in X-Men: Apocalypse, previous ones including a gigantic tomb (probably Apocalypse’s) and Alexandra Shipp being green screened into the desert with the pyramids looming in the background.
Young Storm’s background in X-Men: Apocalypse is staying relatively faithful to her life in the comics. After her parents died when she was six, Ororo became a thief in order to survive on the streets. However, while in the comics her life with the X-Men didn’t begin until she was a young woman, movie Storm will get sucked into this chaotic life as a teenager, working alongside the Magneto, Psylocke and Angel to rebuild the work the way Apocalypse sees fit.
Preceding the video was the above still of several citizens of 1983 Cairo loitering out in an alleyway. It hardly reveals anything intricate to the plot, but it goes give us an idea of where Storm is hanging out throughout the day.
Bryan Singer also took the opportunity to grab selfies with nearly all of the extras used for the Egypt scenes in the film. You can check out Singer’s Instagram feed for every snapshot, but here’s one that shows a few of he "background players." Look, there’s even a guy showing off his merchandise, including necklaces, bracelets and…decks of cards?! Well, those don’t fit with the jewelry, but okay. Maybe once you reach a certain price, he’ll throw in a free deck.
We’ll see Storm alongside the rest of the gigantic cast of heroes and villains when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
