X-Men: Days Of Future Past Director Shuts Down Halle Berry Rumors

There are two very big upsides to active Twitter accounts run by big blockbuster directors. For one thing, they tend to enjoy taking many, many, many behind the scenes photos during production, and secondly they occasionally become available to police rumors about their upcoming projects. It's the latter that delivers this this new story. This past weekend we saw the spread of a rumor saying that Halle Berry's Storm had been all but completely cut out of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, but now director Bryan Singer has laid all of those stories to rest with a single word:

Some of our more cynical readers might not entirely buy this denial. The whole point of the original story was that the filmmakers and the studio were trying to keep Berry's exclusion from the movie a secret, which would mean he has no reason not to continue the lie here. All the same, I'm willing to bet that Storm does have more to do in the movie than just one line.

Weirdly enough, this is not the first time that there have been big question marks surrounding Storm's presence in the X-Men super sequel. Not only was she one of the last original trilogy stars to sign on for the project - her role not confirmed until last March, just before the start of production - but her pregnancy meant that she would be unable to do any flying or fighting in the film. I guess it's a good thing that her power set is more in the "conjuring" category than in martial arts skills. If she does end up getting cut from the film, however, then she will be joining a very exclusive club that also includes Anna Paquin's Rogue.

With or without Berry, X-Men: Days of Future Past still has an outstanding ensemble cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Daniel Cudmore, Adan Canto, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, and Fan Bing Bing. Thanks to the new Instagram teaser we now know that we are just one week away from the release of a brand new trailer from the film, but until then enjoy the previously released spot below.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be in theaters on May 23rd.
