Zoom Recruits Superheroes

Graphic Novels are taking Hollywood by storm. After the smashing success of Frank Miller's "Sin City", producers are racing to turn a multitude of the books into big screen wonders.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Jason Lethchoe's graphic novel "Zoom's Academy for the Super Gifted" is the latest to make the transition. Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios will release the comedy, currently titled Zoom. Courtney Cox has been cast, and will join grunting comedian Tim Allen, who also co-wrote the script. The other writers include Adam Rifkin, David Berenbaum, and Matt Carroll. The film will be directed by Peter Hewitt, who brought us Garfield and Tom & Huck. No comment.

The story is about a secret agency that turns the youth of America into the superheroes of tomorrow. Marsha (Cox) is the leading scientist of the program, and Jack (Allen) is the former 'Captain Zoom', who has gained weight and lost his skills. He is pulled back into action to help train the kids to meet their destinies of saving the world.

Zoom sounds like a combination of The Incredibles and Harry Potter. It will likely appeal to the inner (and often outer) geek in all of us. Catch it in theaters next year.
